The American Greyhound Track Operators Association (AGTOA) formed in April 1946, is a non-profit corporation composed of the owners and operators of 36 greyhound tracks located throughout the United States. Membership is open to all lawfully licensed greyhound racetracks, whether they be individuals, partnerships or corporations.
Greyhound racing is recognized as one of the nation's largest spectator sports. It is legal in 16 states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Texas, West Virginia and Wisconsin. Oregon and South Dakota do not conduct "live" greyhound racing activities at this time.
The AGTOA maintains a staff which is headquartered at the Palm Beach Kennel Club in Florida. The Association annually holds a national conference in the spring, which has become a forum for all those interested in or affiliated with the sport to exchange ideas and to develop new techniques for the improvement and growth of the greyhound industry.

The AGTOA is a founding member of the World Greyhound Racing Federation, which has as its function the promotion of international greyhound racing throughout the world.
