What
The Greyhound Adoption Person of the Year award is sponsored by the American Greyhound Track Operators Association (AGTOA) to recognize an individual who has given generously of his or her time to help place former racing greyhounds into qualified homes as pets. The recipient is selected based on the individual’s dedication and contribution to greyhound adoption during the year.

Eligibility
Any individual in the U.S. or Canada involved in finding adoptive homes for retired racing greyhounds is eligible to receive the award, whether he or she is a volunteer or receives payment for his or her work. .

Nomination
Any one can nominate an individual (not a group) for this recognition by filling out a nomination form. Forms for 2009 nominees are available at www.agtoa.com or by calling Dennis Bicsak at 561-615-3916.  All information on the form must be completed for the nomination to be valid. Nomination forms must be submitted by August 28, 2009 on line (www.agtoa.com/gapyonline.asp) , via e-mail (dbicsak@comcast.net), fax (801-751-2404) or mail (AGTOA, 1111 N. Congress Ave., West Palm Beach, FL 33409). Submission information also is included on the nomination form.

Recognition
The Greyhound Adoption Person of the Year will be honored in March 2010 at the AGTOA’s annual meeting in Las Vegas. The recipient and a guest receive complimentary airfare and accommodation for the trip, and the AGTOA donates $500 to the adoption group specified by the honoree.

The Greyhound Adoption Person of the Year is sponsored by the AGTOA, a nonprofit corporation comprised of greyhound race track owners and operators in the U.S.

Selection
A volunteer committee of AGTOA members selects the individual to be recognized.
